Terms of Service

• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction but at least 13, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@lingoafrika.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
• One account per person; you may not transfer your account to anyone else.

Lingoafrika offers language-learning content (lessons, audio, video, stories, quizzes), community features, and live tutoring focused on African languages. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time.

Subject to these Terms, Lingoafrika grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Service on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

4.1 Paid plans

Certain features require a paid subscription. Prices, billing periods, and features are shown at the point of purchase. Payments are processed by Apple (App Store), Google (Google Play), or our third-party processor — not by Lingoafrika directly.

4.2 Auto-renewal

Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, charged through your app-store account, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel renewal in:

• iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
• Android: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.

4.3 Free trials

If we offer a free trial, you will be billed at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before it ends. Eligibility for a trial is limited to first-time subscribers.

4.4 Refunds

Refunds for in-app purchases are governed by the store from which you bought the subscription (Apple or Google). Where required by law (e.g., EU/UK consumer rights), you may be entitled to a statutory refund — contact support@lingoafrika.com for assistance.

4.5 Price changes

We may change subscription prices. We will give you at least 30 days' notice and an opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.

You may post messages, comments, ratings, voice recordings, or other content ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content. By posting, you grant Lingoafrika a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt, and distribute the User Content solely to operate and improve the Service.

You represent and warrant that your User Content:

• Does not violate any law or infringe anyone's rights.
• Does not contain hate speech, harassment, sexual content involving minors, or illegal material.
• Is accurate and does not impersonate any person.

We may remove User Content that violates these Terms and may suspend or terminate accounts of repeat offenders.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any law.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code of the app, except as permitted by law.
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest any data from the Service.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure.
• Use bots, automated scripts, or cheat to manipulate streaks, leaderboards, or in-app rewards.
• Resell, sublicense, rent, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service.
• Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users.
• Upload viruses, malicious code, or content that infringes intellectual property.

The Service — including all lessons, audio, video, illustrations, software, designs, logos, and trademarks (including "Lingoafrika") — is owned by Lingoafrika Technologies or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the license in Section 3, no rights are granted to you.

The Service may integrate with third-party services (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play, payment processors, push-notification providers). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

8.1 Apple-specific terms

• These Terms are between you and Lingoafrika Technologies, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• In the event the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, who will refund the purchase price; Apple has no further warranty obligation.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app or your possession or use of it (including product-liability, legal-compliance, or consumer-protection claims).
• Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

8.2 Google-specific terms

If you download the app from Google Play, you also agree to the Google Play Terms of Service. These Terms do not modify your rights under those terms.

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or if required by law. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you, except where notice would prejudice an investigation or safety.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, dispute resolution) will survive.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected. Learning outcomes vary and are not guaranteed.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; in those jurisdictions the exclusions apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lingoafrika Technologies and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or learning progress, arising from or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (such as liability for gross negligence, fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence).

You will indemnify and hold harmless Lingoafrika Technologies from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your User Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. For material changes we will give at least 14 days' notice (in-app or by email) before the change takes effect. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Lagos, Nigeria have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence.

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to try in good faith to resolve disputes by contacting legal@lingoafrika.com for at least 30 days.

• Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us.
• Severability. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
• No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
• Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a corporate transaction.
• Notices. We may give you notices through the app, by email, or by posting on the website.
